My Story

I began Cycling in 2005 with Maindy Flyers after becoming bored of other sports. At first it was just a hobby I did every other week but I was soon hooked on it. In 2007 I moved to Cardiff Ajax and was also selected to be part of British Cycling’s Olympic Talent Program. As Part of the ‘Talent Team’ I raced in Holland and Belgium which gave me my first taste of international racing. With the results I gained from the previous two years of racing as a youth I progressed on to the Olympic Development Programme - this was another British Cycling initiative aimed at a select few riders aged between 16-18. In addition to this I also joined Hargroves Cycles Race Team, the biggest Junior Team in the UK which is based out of Southhampton. My first year in the junior category was successful in terms of results which including a Silver Medal at the junior world track cycling championships as part of the team pursuit squad where we also broke the junior national record. Domestically I also Won the British national junior points race, the Welsh junior road race champs and was 2nd in the British junior road race championships. The year after in 2011 proved to be just as fruitful in terms of results. I Became European champion on the track and also claimed 2 other medals at the championships in Anadia and represented Wales at the youth commonwealth games in the Isle of Man where I finished 2nd in the road race and 4th in the time trial. I also had strong results domestically claiming wins in several National junior series races and picking up National Titles on the Track. After a solid 2 years as part of Hargroves cycles and the ODP I was accepted onto the Olympic Academy Programme and moved to Manchester in 2012. My first year on the programme was very challenging making the step up from Junior to Senior. During the year I learnt a lot and made my world cup debut in Beijing competing in the scratch and madison events. I also rode the Tour of Britain for the national squad which was an amazing experience. But my highlight of the year was winning the Individual Pursuit at the Senior British Championships in Manchester. During the champs I also won gold in the Team Pursuit and a silver in the points race. This year I made my debut at the UCI world track cycling championships in Minsk where I finished 5th in the Scratch race and 11th with Simon Yates in the Madison. I hope to have a strong year on the road in 2013 and go from strength to strength
